BNI has successfully deployed fiber-based, high speed data networks for education, government, medical and business customers throughout the country. These networks have ranged from 8 to 80 sites and span as much as 1000 square miles.
With BNI and a Minimal Investment, Texas City Saves “a Tremendous Amount of Money”
BNI partnered with TCA (now part of Cox Communications) to provide 100 Mbps Ethernet data capability to each of 18 sites for the city of Tyler, Texas. Included on the network are the locations for the city’s police and fire facilities, as well as the county library, utility and court facilities. The network design is unique in that it provides redundancy through route diversity and automatic switching between paths."The most exciting thing about this technology from our standpoint is it didn’t cost us that much money. At the same time, it’s going to save us a tremendous amount of money," stated John D'Anna, Chief Information Officer, City of Tyler.
San Antonio School System Gears Up With BNI High-Speed Network
BNI partnered with Time-Warner to provide 100 Mbps Ethernet data capability to each of 52 sites that comprise the North East Independent School District (San Antonio, Texas). The backbone connections provide the capability for multiple Gbps. The school district plans to run PowerPlay video conferencing over the high-speed WAN. BNI’s role in the project included proposal response, design of the network, complete BOM, installation of the network and ongoing maintenance and support. “The school district is very excited about this high speed network,” stated Steve Emilienburg, Executive Director of Management Information Systems, North East Independent School District, San Antonio. “The 100 Mbps links will give us the capacity that we need now, with room for growth in the future.”
El Paso School District Enhances Curriculum, Builds Community with WAN
BNI partnered with Time-Warner to provide 100 Mbps Ethernet data capability to each of the 22 sites that comprise the Socorro Independent School District (El Paso, Texas) for a period of ten years. The backbone connections provide the capability for multiple Gbps. BNI's role in the project included proposal response, design of the network, complete BOM, installation of the network and ongoing maintenance and support. “The school district is very excited about this high-speed network,” stated Wim R. van den Berge, Executive Director of Information Systems, Socorro Independent School District. “We have seen the success of this type of network in other areas and we look forward to running new leading-edge applications that will create a sense of community within our district and enhance our student curriculum.”
